Acts of Kindness- Given and Received
In this time between Martin Luther King Day and Valentine's Day, I Invite us all to practice act of kindness to others- thoughtful and compassionate acts toward others. Please look up in the dictionary and write a personal definition of the words kindness and compassion. For your first post, write... " Compassion and Kindness mean _________to Me. " Then give several sentences of specific acts you have recently done toward others or specific things others have done toward you!
With the snow and the slipping and sliding, I decided, even being sick , to shovel the sidewalk for my neighbors who were out this evening. I wonder what things we can all do to show compassion and kindness toward others?

When I think of kindness and compassion “Sympathetic consciousness of others” is the definition I like. I wish I could say I have this trait, I would like to think at times we all do, and show it occasionally.
To me, Compassion means caring for people, and doing what's right to help the world and other people.
Kindness means, Saying Hello, Please and Thank you, holding the door open for people, Sharing food. Yes cafeteria staff, that is not breaking the rules, It's kindness.

sharing, caring, listening, good comments, not leaving people out and other good things.
I think respect is when people are...
not talking when other people are, putting full attention on who is talking, and asking before taking and other things.
What I think I have done respectful or kind is...
I've said more thank yous and have started doing things people have told me to do. I like myself more when I am kind.

to me kindness means to be nice so when someone needs help you help them compationnet to me means you are willing to help people too.
Compassion, in my oppinion is when you think of how others will be affected by your words or actions, and not being self-centered. I think kindness is when you do care about taking the extra step towards helping others, and make them feel like thier appriciated.
Today we saw Anya in Ashland, she just came from school, and told us that school was 2 hours delayed.We offerd to have her at our house, so she would not have to go home, and back, or stay in Ashland in the cold.
And in that story also Anya helped us because other wise we would have to keep going to school just to find that it was 2 hours delayed.
And if I can say so, I felt sad when people were not really taking your challenge seriously, like just today I saw some people just walking up to random people and saying your ugly! it makes me sad.
Compassion and Kindness means to Me.

when i was with SI a guy in a senyor home i felt bad for him becuse he had a broken foot or something and i weeled him around the place to help him. and evrytime I left he would give me a lolypop
kindness and compassion means to me, is helping people when they need help, sharing with other people, being nice to people and treat people like you want to be treated.
Once when i was in preschool my friend was really allergic to peanuts and you weren't allowed to bring peanuts our peanut butter for lunch. one day somebody brought a peanut butter sandwich to school so i went and told the teacher that he had peanut butter cause i didn't want my friend to get sick or die. i didn't want to get him in trouble i just was worried about my friend

i think kindness means to be nice to some one and help some one when thay need it.and i think respectful means to not say mean things.
Last week with the snow and hard driving conditions one of my friends called to ask me if I needed to use his 4x4 truck to get to work.He knew my old truck was not easy to handle in the snow. I appricated him calling and offering it to me.
I want thank my friend Mark for being so helpful and kind when we were mountain climbing last weekend. In a precarious section, he came out and help me get my skis up to a safe area.

Gabe: When I was up on MTA saturday, It was really cold up at the top of the MT. A nice thing someone did for me was, My ski instructor Erin, waited till it was my turn before taking my jacket and snow pants down to the bottom of the hill. It gets pretty cold in just a thin race-suit so he did something kind by keeping my stuff w/ me at the top to keep me warm as long as he could before my run, and he brought them down right after my run so I would not get cold.
Dan: My dad got me a pocket knife. It was really kind of him because I had wanted it for about 3 years.

Someone who has been kind to me is my mom because she took care of me even though she was sick too.
I thought that it was really nice of her to do that.

When my friend was feeling down I also waas feeling a little down and she help me feel better even though she has stuff to worry about. so i helped her to!

Someone who has been kind to me is my babysitter Judy because she took my to radio shack for a new mouse when mine was broken. She also takes me and my mom to places we cant walk to.

Paul: something that someone did that was nice to me is i was snowboarding in the terrain park it was my 2nd time doing the mailbox and i landed then hit a patch of ice went out of control and flew into a tree and ryan helped me up it hurt i cant belive i biffed PS. i dont do rails!
One today in class i didnt know what the 2nd and 3rd power where so i asked gabe and he explained it to me.
last year i was in the punt pass and kick competition at the YMCA and there was somebody tacking pictures and one of the pictures was me and it was in the newspaper and Mr c hung it up on the wall i thought that was nice of him

Someone who is kind to me is my mom. She is almost always willing to help me and one thing she did lateley was even though we could not go to school she took me sleding up the road we walked up there and we had a great time.

I appriciat my mom for always being there for me! she is always very kind! she is so nice and sympathetic and I love her very much.
My dad for always helping me out and always there for me.
while my mom is at work he cooks dinner he helps me with homework and a lot more.

When some thing hapened,( I'd rather not say what.) my mom was there for me. And I'm very thankfull for that, it made me feel glad I have her as my mother, it felt good to know someone cared about me and it made me appreciate
her even more.

Yesterday when I was walking to the Hannon Library This lady (with a really cute dog) dropped her scarf. I didn't know if i should pick it up or not but when i say the collage kids just walk past i ran and got the scarf and gave it to her she said thank you and that i was very kind to do that and as i was walking a way she said thank you again andi said no prob!!
After that i felt pretty HAPPY!

I think I could be more respectful in morning meetings by not talking to my friends of sitting in our "gedo" but saying and doing are different things but I'll try my best
This was a while ago, but when it was around holiday season we were making cards in class.
Ashtin was my partner and he wanted to write to his dad, mom, sister and 2 brothers. I thought that would take longer than we had time for. So 4 letter-cards later we were done! I was really proud of Ashtin for acomplishing the task. Then he mumbled thanks and walked away. I felt really happy and proud of myself too.

All my friends were really nice today at recess. Im really glad I have such good freinds and I hope we will be friends forever.
One time i went to Emigrant lake with my dad and brother we rafted to the other side of the lake. when it was time to leave we realized our raft popped. so we waved our ours over our head and yelled help. and a SOU college student on a jet ski came and took my brother and i to the other side. he tried to help my dad but the jet ski kept flipping over because of to much weight so he went and got a boat and the boat took my dad to the other side.
He was very nice
